Giants 17 – 3 Buccaneers

// October 30th, 2006 // No Comments » // New York Giants

The wind wreaked havoc yesterday at Giants Stadium, as both teams struggled to get much of anything going on offense. That being said, the Giants defense was able to keep the Bucs O from entering the Red Zone at all in a 17-3 victory that keeps the G-men atop the NFC East.

Plaxico Burress and Brandon Jacobs each scored touchdowns for the Giants who next face the Houston Texans at Giants Stadium on Sunday. Kickoff is 1PM ET and will be shown regionally on CBS.

Arsenal 1 – 1 Everton

// October 29th, 2006 // No Comments » // Arsenal FC

Everton made their 11th minute goal do the work for them, as they then kept ten men behind the ball for the remaining 84 minutes to earn a point at the Grove against Arsenal yesterday.

Tim Cahill came in unmarked on a corner kick – from the replay it looks like Hleb & Gilberto went for the same man. Cahill bundled in the shot, and just like that it was 1-0 Everton.

The ball stayed in the Everton half for the rest of the match, with wave after wave of Arsenal attack being stymied by the Everton defensive effort.

Finally, with about 20 minutes left, Arsenal won a free kick just a few yards from goal, and Robin van Persie made no mistake, curling it home to pull the Gunners level.

It was obvious that Arsene Wenger wanted the win – for the last twenty minutes or so, there were only two defenders at the back. However, a second goal proved elusive, and it must go down as two points dropped at home.

Next up is the opportunity for revenge against CSKA Moscow at home on Wednesday. Kickoff is @ 2:45 PM ET and the match will air on ESPN2 here in the US.
