Arsenal 2 – 2 Manchester United

// November 3rd, 2007 // Arsenal FC

Arsenal twice came back from a goal down to draw 2-2 with ManUre in an engrossing match at the Grove earlier today.

William Gallas’ stoppage time goal earned a point after it seemed all but certain that Arsenal’s unbeaten start to the season would be halted by the in-form Red Devils.

ManUre opened the scoring during first-half stoppage time when Wayne Rooney’s scuffed shot deflected off of a sliding William Gallas and into the goal.

Arsenal responded in kind. Within two minutes of the restart, Cesc Fabregas scored his eleventh goal of the campaign to draw the Gunners level.

The remainder of the match was on a knife edge as both sides had chances to take the lead.

Then, with less the eight minutes to go, substitute Theo Walcott lost his man, and Patrice Evra ghosted in behind the defense, and his perfect pass found a streaking Christiano Ronaldo who scored to put ManUre ahead.

Arsenal had the last word though, when Walcott’s shot in stoppage time was rebounded to Gallas, who curled the ball past the post. ManUre keeper Edwin van de Sar got his hands to the shot, but not before it the ball had clearly crossed the line.

So, 2-2 a fair scoreline, and now it’s back to the Champions League and a trip to Prague to take on Slavia. The Gunners crushed the Czechs 7-0 two weeks ago. Will there be a similar scoreline on Wednesday? The match is being shown live here in the States on Setanta USA at 2:45 PM ET.
